The Obligatory E3 Post

Another E3 has come and gone, just like it does every year in June at this point. This year wasn't quite as exciting as last year's show but I feel like we got a decent enough idea of what's in the pipeline for several developers as well as the three console manufacturers. This post more or less is going to cover the 5 things I was most excited about from the show and maybe a little bit of what I found disappointing or have mixed feelings about. So lets get started.

Detroit: Become Human
Now this had been on my radar since it was originally revealed last year and the previous Kara tech demo that tied into it. I have a soft spot for Quantic Dream ever since Heavy Rain was released for the PS3. To this day it's one of the best games I played on that console. With Detroit they plan to give us a noir thriller set in a futuristic Detroit where androids have become commonplace. The problem that arises from this situation is that some of these androids begin to malfunction when they begin to gain sentience and experience emotion. The gameplay demo and trailer shown at E3 clearly display this with a story scenario in which a malfunctioning android has killed their owner and taken a hostage leading to a tense standoff with the player controlled android crisis negotiator. As per usual, Quantic Dream is blending their unique, almost point and click adventure style with some advanced visuals that are blended with performance capture. If this small gameplay sample is an indication of how the final game will be then I'd say they have a solid title on their hands.

State of Affairs

Hey so I started this blog all the way back in 2010 with plenty of time on my hands and essentially some grand plans to try and grow this thing into well..something. This was back when streaming your games and doing your own blog were still pretty much in their infancy. Since then well, generally life happens. Sometimes things get in the way of projects that are more or less a hobby. Sometimes interest wanes. It frankly was a combination of these things. But even as time went on I tried to at least maintain some sort of semblance of activity. While I may not have been writing as much as I would have liked, I was still somewhat active on my Twitch account. Games were streamed and clips pulled from those streams and placed upon my Youtube page. Sadly some of this was haphazardly done and without any sort of consistency and that's generally what this post is about.

Look I'm not going to make any promises that I'm suddenly going to become super active with the blog in conjunction with my Twitch page and the random Youtube video. I mean I would love to, but working full time naturally won't allow a set schedule. On that same note though I am going to at least try to not make this just some archive of a lost project in some sad corner of the internet. It's still an active hobby and I'm going to treat it as such. So moving forward there will be some more streams, more activity on the Twitter page, and more than one post a year. So if you enjoyed any of what you've read in years prior then hopefully you'll enjoy what's to come.

Welcome back and enjoy.

Deconstructing the Arkham Knight

While it might be odd to post again so soon about the same game, I felt compelled to work on a new post regarding Batman: Arkham Knight. This time though we'll be focusing solely on the story and nothing more. I'm only doing this because the story(and some Batmobile gameplay) are the only real issues I have with an otherwise perfect game. And frankly I only take issue with some of the story elements because of things that were said multiple times in the lead up to the release of this game by Rocksteady themselves. Be warned now, this is going to heavily delve into the story itself and will include many spoilers for Batman: Arkham Knight. Read only if you've completed the game or if you just don't care about being spoiled on the story.
